Curve Couture Countryphile AW13

Forged with traditional English influences, couture corsetier Chrissie Nicholson-Wild’s latest collection for Curve Couture, ‘Countryphile’ reflects the faded glory of the aristocratic country pile. Rundown and archaic heritage, still faintly gilded around the edges and still profoundly beautiful. Countryphile features Edwardian cut corsets in sensuous leather, classic tailored suits and glorious gowns mixed up with equine fashion, armour and Steampunk detailing. Hugely important to the aesthetic of Curve Couture is the transformative affect of the corset, both on the physical body and the psyche of it’s wearer noted the designer.

Nicholson-Wild says, “I love the aesthetics of the corset, the flow of the lines, the über feminine silhouette it creates. I love that when you wear a corset you feel like you’re wearing armour, and you know that all the eyes in the room are on you. It’s a wonderful kind of confidence to be put on show, and yet feel entirely protected.”
